Land Harbor Recycling Survey Summary

 

Last month, August 2020, the POA issued a survey on behalf of the Linville Land Harbor Board and Recycling Ad Hoc committee. The intent of the survey was to better understand and meet the recycling interests of our residents.  Thank you to all those who took the time to participate in the survey.

The results of the approximately 400 responses (some were incomplete) are shown below.

  • 269 - 67% of the responders said they use the recycling bins at the Point to dispose of their recyclable materials or cardboard.

 

  • 72 - 18% of the responders said they use the recycling bins at the Overlook to dispose of their recyclable materials.
  • 44 - 11% of the responders said they dispose of their recyclable materials in the LLH bins more than once a week; 180 - 45% of the responders said they dispose of their recyclable materials in the LLH bins weekly;  61 - 16% of the responders said they dispose of their recyclable materials in the LLH bins monthly; and  111  -  28% of the responders said they never dispose of their recyclable materials in the LLH bins.

 

  • 329 - 82% of the responders said they have seen the recycling information signs posted at the Point recycling area.
  • 361 - 90% of the responders said they have seen the recycling articles in the LLH publications or media.

 

  • 305 - 76% of those who saw the recycling articles found them informative and useful in helping to recycle correctly.
  • 366 - 92% of the responders said they know that plastic bags of any kind must not be put in the LLH recycling bins.

 

  • 311 - 78% of the responders said they know where they can take other items to be properly disposed of such as plastic bags, hazardous waste, electronics, printer ink cartridges, medications, used clothing and household items, etc.
  • 29 - 7% of responders said they have used recyclling@linvillelandharbor.com to obtain information about proper recycling.

In addition to responding to the specific questions, many participants submitted comments, suggestions or questions which are summarized and answered below.
